His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, today attended the inaugural visit to Westmead Hospital to visit staff and patients.<\/p>\n
During the visit, the Dalai Lama shared his knowledge during a medical ethics forum,\u00a0which was joined by more than 300 clinicians from Westmead Hospital and the\u00a0Westmead Millennium Institute.<\/p>\n
The theme of the forum was “Navigating the Maze of Medical Ethics\u201f where the Dalai\u00a0Lama discussed issues on mutual obligation in medicine.<\/p>\n
Staff as well as dialysis and transplant patients were also given the opportunity to\u00a0meet the Dalai Lama during a tour through the Renal Unit.<\/p>\n
Professor Jeremy Chapman, WSLHD Board Member and Director of Renal Medicine\u00a0and Transplantation at Westmead Hospital, said, \u201cIt\u201fs an honour to have His\u00a0Holiness, the Dalai Lama, visit Westmead Hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the first time the Dalai Lama has visited our facility and it has been a\u00a0wonderful experience for our staff and patients to discuss medical issues and to\u00a0share in his wisdom.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
\u201cIt was also a great opportunity for the Dalai Lama to meet clinicians and patients\u00a0from our Renal Department,\u201d said Professor Chapman.<\/p>\n
His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, is a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize and is an\u00a0international figurehead.<\/p>\n
