{"id":11268,"date":"2025-06-20T12:18:24","date_gmt":"2025-06-20T02:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wimr.org.au\/?post_type=news&#038;p=11268"},"modified":"2025-06-30T11:21:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T01:21:45","slug":"honouring-our-discovery-partners-and-supporters","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/wimr.org.au\/news\/honouring-our-discovery-partners-and-supporters\/","title":{"rendered":"Honouring Our Discovery Partners and Supporters"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-2c90304e wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-2c90304e wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Annual <strong>WIMR Discovery Partners High Tea<\/strong>&nbsp;is a heartfelt celebration of the remarkable individuals who have pledged a gift in their Will to support the future of medical research at the <strong>Westmead Institute for Medical Research (WIMR)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This special event brings together our Discovery Partners and members of the WIMR community to acknowledge the enduring legacy of those committed to advancing health through science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sharing the Impact of Legacy Giving<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests were welcomed with an update from <strong>Professor Philip O\u2019Connell<\/strong>, Executive Director of WIMR, who shared exciting developments in our <strong>Precision Medicine<\/strong>&nbsp;initiatives\u2014innovative research tailored to the individual patient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We were also honoured to hear from <strong>Associate Professor Stephen Milne<\/strong>&nbsp;of WIMR\u2019s <strong>Ludwig Engel Centre for Respiratory Research<\/strong>, who spoke about his groundbreaking work into lung disease. His research combines clinical, physiological, and molecular profiling to unlock new ways of understanding and treating these complex conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Moment of Reflection and Gratitude<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A poignant part of the event was the opportunity to reflect and honour the families of donors whose legacy gifts have already been fulfilled. Their generosity continues to fuel vital discoveries, improving countless lives today and into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We extend our deepest thanks to our <strong>Discovery Partners<\/strong>\u2014visionary supporters whose lasting commitment empowers groundbreaking research.
